History:
The new pavilion was opened in May 2007 due in part to a grant obtained from DEFRA under its 'Rural Development Programme'. The rebuilding of the pavilion was instigated by Diana Hitchcock who also spearheaded the fund raising campaign with valuable support from villagers and the cricket club. A new lease was granted by the National Trust to CSSC for the use of the pavilion and cricket ground for a further 50 years.
CSSC successfully applied for further grant monies to fund a Solar Power Scheme to provide electricity to run all basic pavilion equipment along with a Wi-Fi and Security system, they were commissioned in August 2018, the work was implemented by UK Solar Power Panels. The grant monies were provided by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development ref No 109224 via the Rural Surrey LEADER County Council programme, the Gatwick Airport Community Trust as well as donations from Capel Parish Council and Surrey County Council.
