To the north of Christ Church is the Memorial Ground which is situated on land owned by the National Trust. It has a large grass area ideal for picnics and relaxation and is used as an overflow car-park for church events.
It is the site for the annual village fete, usually held on a Saturday afternoon in May, although in 2021 it will be held on September 11th. The fete attracts many visitors and local residents who come to be entertained, to show their dogs and to partake of games of skill and good quality local food and drink.
At the east end of the ground is the recently refurbished war memorial which displays the names of people who were injured or lost their lives in both world wars. A memorial service is held at this monument every November on Remembrance Sunday.
Also at the east end of the Memorial Ground is the children's playground which has swings, a slide and a climbing frame for children to enjoy, it is maintained by Capel Parish Council.
